The American Planning Association named Pemberton Heights as one of Austin’s “Great Places.” Town and Country Magazine has listed Pemberton Heights as one of its “Top 25 Platinum Addresses.” It’s not hard to see why the community attract such recognition. The community is situated on a plateau above a ravine carved by Shoal Creek. Permberton Heights was built between the 1920s and 1940s and it retains a true sense of elegance and distinction. It’s large homes average 3,600 square feet in size and are set on manicured lawns. Tudor, Greek Revival and more modern styles can be found throughout Pemberton. The make-up of Pemberton Heights has included many business leaders, judges, lawyers and politicians over its history and continues to today. Many residents will tell you that one of their favorite aspects of the community is the friendliness among neighbors. Pemberton Heights is in Central Austin, just east of MoPac (Loop 1). It’s about two miles from Downtown and the University of Texas. One of the main attractions of the community is Laguna Gloria, the Austin estate that is part of the Austin Contemporary Museum of Art. Pease Park, with its hiking and biking opportunities and open spaces, is nearby. Accessing MoPac is easy, giving residents a quick route to north Austin and the shopping and entertainment opportunities available there. One of the favorite activities of many residents in this area is attending the spectacular Christmas lights show at Abel’s On the Lake.
